Our annual community reuse sale has a new name, but it’s the same great event!
Project ReCollect is a collaborative effort between Cornell University staff and Cops, Kids & Toys, bringing together students, volunteers, and community members to give thousands of gently used items a second life while raising funds to help local families.
While the name has changed, everything that makes this event special remains the same. Each year in May and June, Cornell students and Ithaca community members generously donate their gently used furniture, household goods, clothing, décor, electronics, and countless other reusable items during move-out. Over the next few months, volunteers sort and organize those donations in preparation for resale in August at the area’s largest community reuse sale, where shoppers find incredible bargains and help keep usable items out of local landfills.
Most importantly, every purchase supports the mission of Cops, Kids & Toys, providing holiday toys for children in need and helping Tompkins County families throughout the year with food, household essentials, clothing, and emergency assistance through partnerships with local agencies and human service organizations.
We believe the name Project ReCollect better reflects what this event is all about. It’s about collecting reusable items, reconnecting them with new owners, and reinvesting the proceeds back into our community.
Whether you’ve shopped with us for years or are planning your first visit, we look forward to welcoming you to Project ReCollect this August 17-23.
Thank you for your continued generosity and support. Together, we’re reducing waste, strengthening our community, and making a difference for local families!
